Teaching Methods: 1.Situation simulating method 2. Task-based method 3. Listening and speaking method Teaching Aids: the Multi-media Teaching procedures: Step1. Warming-up and revision (1)Greet the class as usual (2)Sing a song: If you are happy, clap your hands. Step2. Presentation 1. Ask some questions. If you are happy, what will you do? ---If I am happy, I will smile. If you become sad, what will you do? ---If I become sad, I will cry. *What will happen if you are going to do too much work? If I am going to do too much work, I will get tired. ------If you do, you’ll get tired. 2. Show some pictures on the screen and ask students to talk about. What do they see in the pictures? Lead in the sentences: If he is tired, he will get up late. If he gets up late, he’ll be late for school. If he is late for school, the teacher will be angry. And if the teacher is angry, he’ll cry. 3. Work on 1a Activity 1a introduces key vocabulary and provides reading practice using the target language. First, point out the four pictures and get students to tell what they see. Then ask two students to read the conversation in the speech bubbles in the first picture. Sa: I think I’m going to go to the party with Karen and Ann. Sb: If you do, you’ll have a great time. Then have students look at 1a. Ask them to match the statements and responses. Check the answers. Answers: 1. d 2. a 3.b 4.c Ask students to look at the pictures and then make conversations. Then have two students read the sample dialogue, and make conversations according to 1a. At the end ask one or two pairs of students to say their conversations to the class. 4. Work on 1b This activity provides listening practice using the target language. Listen to the tape. You’ll hear four conversations. Each conversation will give you the matching response for one of the four statements. Play the recording. Students listen. Talk about some western cultural background in the listening. For example, jeans are casual clothes. If you go to the party, you can’t wear jeans. 5. work on 2a Listen and number the phrases in the order you hear them. Answers: a.3 b.1 c.2 d.6 e.4 f.5 6. Work on 2b. Listen again and answer the questions. Remember to write the first letters when you hear each sentence, and when you finished the listening you can complete each one. Step3: Practice Work on 2c. Look at the chart on page 35 and role play the conversation between Andrea and her friend. Step4: Grammar focus and Summary. We have learnt some sentences of Adverbial Clause with if. “If you do, you’ll be late. If you do, you’ll be sorry.” And we have done some listening practice. Have you learned how to make sentences with “I’ll” and “if”? Step5. Homework If you go to the party, what will happen? If you don’t go to the party, what will happen?
