About 25 000 candidates earn their doctorate in Germany each year.
14% of the PhDs awarded in Germany are earned by foreign students.
Options for gaining a doctorate in GermanyOptions for gaining a doctorate in Germany Traditional (individual) supervision by an academic supervisor: "Doktorvater" / "Doktormutter“ (so-called "apprentice model"):

language skills: Most doctoral regulations provide for the opportunity to write the thesis in English and to complete the viva voce examination in English as well.
