《看不见的人》的象征艺术 毕业 Symbols in Invisible Man Abstract Invisible Man is the representative work of American black writer Ralf Ellison. It is a novel using many symbols. It describes the process how a young African-American in the 1930s strives for freedom and seeks for his identity in the society dominated by the white. This thesis mainly analyzes the symbolic meaning of the three images: “colors”, “visual sense” and “objects” in Invisible Man, revealing the fact that Afro-Americans are invisible in the white dominated American society. Although Afro-Americans play an important role in the development of the American society, they are also neglected.
