Not only has the net brought in thousands of new words, but it also added to the language many other new things. Emoticons (情感图标)---the smiling, frowning or winking faces are constructed from punctuation marks and abbreviations such as LOL for “laugh out loud” and BRB for “be right back” are constantly coined. All these things are popular among online chat groups. As a learner of English, I will certainly pay close attention to such a phenomenon and learn to use e-English as it prevails.
