Zhangjingchu Thank you .it is nice to be here . Mishal Thank you for being us,jingchu . Not many people have the success you have from the very first film. Did you dream to be an actress when you are a child? Zhangjingchu I have never thought of being an actress when i was a child. Because my personality is more shy and introverted and i thought being an actor should be somebody who is very outgoing and enjoys being the center of the attention. And i was just the opposite. Mishal You played some really tough roles. In the film night and fog of tianshuiwei ,you played an abused wife and a drug addict . You didn't look glamours or played the way your fans expected to see in this film. So why did you play this role? Zhangjinchu I think these characters are real and strong and you can get into other people's heart. I have done a lot of researches as well. I just want to paly a vivid image and let people see a real drug addict could be very scary. During the interview i know that a lot of people ,they do drugs because they don t know drugs have such a serious result and it really couldn't quit . Mishal Well, one of the roles i imagine you have more fun with was when you were in rush hour 3 with jacky chan. What was it like working with him ? Zhangjinchu In china we all call him 大哥. It means elder brother. He was like an elder brother to me . That was my first time shooting a film for such a long time ,5 months in LA. And he would always invite me to his chariot to have lunch and he had a great cook. Yeah, it was a great comfort . Mishal He made a great complement to you not only in the images you have made in your career but also how hard you work ...Is it as hard work today as you began? And you really do a lot of work to apply yourself to every role or is it getting easier the more experience you have ? Zhangjinchu I think in acting you always can try to improve more and there are so many approaches you can use to find infinite and possibilities of the character. That's why i took a half year off to go to new york to study in a studio. Just tried to find different approaches and did a lot of..... like improvisation. I try to maybe bring my acting to a level of more surprising. Sometimes can surprise myself a little bit more. Mishal Jingchu, take me back to then when you were growing up. When you were a naughty girl ,did you usually run away from school ?is that right? Zhangjingchu Hahaha yeah. I never like schooling so much especially my mother is a teacher and i always was under her control so i left home very early like 13 to a boarding school to study art and i remember i went to school at a very early age ,at least two years younger than the average age. Mishal Why were you two years younger when you came to school? Zhangjinchu Because my mother just wanted me to have an early education. It's like maybe save some troubles .i think putting me at school, there are teachers to supervise me . Mishal So when you went to boarding school ,you were younger than your classmates? Zhangjingchu Yes, usually my classmates were at least 15 when i was only 13. I remember one evening at the boarding school all my roommates cried on the bed because they just felt homesick . I was just laughing, that was so great. Finally i get out of control of my parents. Mishal So you didn't feel any homesick when you at school? Zhangjingchu Yes, i think freedom is always priority in my life Mishal was that desire of freedom continuing to your graduation and went to art school then studied directing ?why directing ? Zhangjingchu I don't know. Maybe inside of me ,if i have a notion,i will try to do it immediately. Very soon i realize my techniques were not good enough to go to the art academy.So when i figured it out i decided to go to the film academy and they had a lot of great lessons and we analyzed many great movies like forrest gump and Shawshank Redemption. I've never thought of such great movies existed.
