想做这个帖有好长时间了但是一直在踌躇迟迟不下手： 想做这个帖有好长时间了，但是一直在踌躇迟迟不下手: 1) 不知道放在哪里合适。考虑放在G综合还是G作文呢,或是英语学习与娱乐版, 不过最后决定还是放在作文版好了。毕竟开始混综合版的恐怕咪有闲情逸致这样背 单词了，而且这里不是写friends的笔记，还是以红宝词汇或是“复杂”词汇为 主。也希望通过这些总结，能让准备AW的同学真的能用上一些fancy的词汇，提 高自己写作水平，同时也给后面背单词铺路，不至于到时太过狼狈。 2) 工作量太大„„呵呵。不过踌躇再久也不会能完成，还不如做一点是一点。自己平 时看过也许就忘了，整理下来也能记住，对自己也是提高。共享给大家，也希望能 给大伙儿有帮助。 很多开始准备AW的人都会有这些问题:准备AW时候是不是需要背单词呢,背的红宝单词要不要用到作文里呢,那么多“偏怪”单词怎么用呢,这个帖就是来帮助大家记住一些“常用”的红宝单词，并且能准确的使用它们。 《Friends》现在几乎要成为大家学习英语的非官方专业教科书了。相较于其他美剧，《Friends》的剧本最接近日常生活，而且这个剧本是精雕细琢，不能说字字值得推敲吧，但也是值得我们细细品位的。而在这其中就不乏很多我们觉得偏怪的红宝单词，可是看人家日常口语中就会用到，而且又恰到好处，确是学习的好素材。这个帖就是帮大家总结一下其中出现的一些单词，并配有解释说明，大家看剧记笑话，单词以及单词的使用语境也就水到渠成了。 AW中我们总是会觉得自己使用的词汇贫乏，想用新词或高级词汇，又不知道该如何用。语言是表达意思的一种途径，很多词有很是相近的意思，但其间细微的差别往往能让体现出使用者的语言功底。英语毕竟不是我们的母语，我们没有十几年的耳濡目染，但是现今的考试无不例外都强调对用词准确性的高要求。从中文意思查字典，从众多相似词义的词中“随便”选一个放在自己句子里，这样的操作是很难保证用词精确的，于是地道表达也无从谈起。回想一下我们平时日常生活中怎样学一个新的中文词呢,比如，某人做了一件事，大家评价说他真的很“雷”人,于是下次见到别人也做类似的事或是给大家类似的感觉，我们也就可以评价这个人很“雷”或是这件事“很雷人”了,我们并不是去查字典，而是从语境中学会用词的。在平时没有地道英语环境中，就只能靠自己一点一点的积累来慢慢提高自己水平了。其实这种积累也是扩充自己写作词汇量的一个途径。可能不是很快很有效，但是有胜于无嘛。 由于笔记会有无法预想的多，所以我这里先大概介绍一下规则以方便大家阅读。我会用引用[quote]来引用原文剧本，其中关键词做记号，帖子正文写自己的笔记。后续内容我会跟 帖依次回复，并且把相关内容整理到主帖的word文档里面以方便大家下载。有愿意参与的同学也欢迎跟帖发自己的笔记来。只是，希望大家不用发“顶”，“谢谢分享”之类，我会删除以保证内容连贯性。 《Friends》一共10个season，每个season是24或是25集。开始我可能不会按照顺序来做笔记而是随机性选择，但是word档我会按照先后顺序排列起来以方便大家查阅。 后续会有内容再补充,谢谢大家支持, 1x03 - The Thumb 简单情节如下: 罗斯终于发现真相:童年时的爱犬奇奇死掉了、而不是被送往农场养老，当年被父母善意的欺骗了。钱德戒烟失败;众人皆不满，钱德将矛头指向各人的缺点，籍此转移了注意力。菲比从银行得到一笔飞来横财;她去投诉，反而阴差阳错获得更多赔偿;她将钱悉数送人，对方报以一罐苏打水——开罐饮用时发现了一根拇指在里头。饮料公司赔偿给她7000美金。莫妮卡的新男友阿兰大受其余五人爱戴，但莫妮卡最终和他分手。阿兰如释重负，因为莫妮卡的五个朋友太缠人啦。 [quote] Monica: Uh, no. [/quote] 这里要重点讲两个词:loosely和cushion。 Loosely 宽松的，松散的。Loose有放任，放纵，松散的意思。这里说loosely translate也就是不严格的来翻译，或是我们所说的意译，或是潜台词。我理解相对loosely translate的就是literally， 也就是逐字翻译，或是严格翻译的意思。要把握好这两个相对的意思。 Cushion 垫子，缓冲。在这句话里cushion是一个动词，表示减轻损伤的意思。Cushions the blow，也就是尽可能减少伤害。想枕头或是垫子可以在被blow的时候减少疼痛的。Cushion的这个意思也要记住。 [quote] Monica: No, no, no. [/quote] Endearing 可爱的, 令人钟爱的; 1x13 - The Boobies 这一集由于里面有不少“说教”的内容，于是也值得推荐。 简单剧情介绍: 钱德撞见瑞秋出浴并看见了她的胸脯，引发了一连串的报复行动。菲比的新男友罗杰是个 心理医生，他观察力太过敏锐、使每个人陷入沮丧的境地，由此惹恼了大家。乔伊得知了 父亲和兽医朗妮有一腿，并且已经六年之久。他坚持要父亲断绝这头关系，要么就向母亲 坦白，而事实上，他母亲早已一清二楚，并且不愿让这段感情结束。 [quote] [Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Chandler walks in and starts raiding the fridge. [/quote] Raid 奇袭突袭，搜捕，侵入，掠夺。这个词这里用的很是精确，充分描述了chandler这种 偶然跑过来偷吃东西的样子。 Snatch:To grasp or seize hastily, eagerly, or suddenly.突然一把抓过来的意思。注意这种突 然和仓促的意思。 Barge 这里是闯入的意思，记得这个短语barge in。同时这个词还有平底船的意思。3x14 - Phoebe's Ex-Partner里面phoebe说自己的原来的partner的妈妈和自己的妈妈都在barge 上工作，就是指平底船。 Respect尊重，尊重别人的隐私:have respect for somebody's privacy [quote] Rachel: He's so cute! And he seems to like you so much. Phoebe: I know, I know. So sweet... and so complicated. And for a shrink, he's not too shrinky, y'know? [/quote] Complicated 复杂的，或是说有点内涵的。这个roger是个心理医生，可能说话有点绕， phoebe觉得他“有内容”。说白了就是不是很好理解。 Shrink 这个词有很多意思，主要是收缩，退缩，引申为犹豫不决等等，但是老美嘴里说的 时候也常指心理医生。 [quote] Chandler: Y'know, I don't know why you're so embarrassed, they were very nice boobies. [/quote] Embarrassed 丢人的，尴尬的。 Mitten 就是女孩子冬天带的那种拇指自己独立成家，其余四指在一起的手套。一般上面可 能还有各种图案绣花等等，于是rach觉得很漂亮。她也觉得那样的叫nice。 Gesture 表示，表达。注意这个说法:rock, hard place, me 一边是石头一边是硬的东西自己 挤在中间——左右为难了。^^ Intimacy 亲昵亲密关系。 I don't know you from Adam 我一点都不了解你。from Adam从亚当开始。可以理解说是很 早之前，也可以理解说adam类似字典里最一开始的一个词，“你这本书我从头就没看 过”，也就是我完全不知道。 Puberty 青春期 [quote] Ross: Alright, alright. [/quote] Perceptive 有感知能力，敏锐的。Phoebe也扔出来很“复杂”的词。很明显这个roger能 轻易洞悉别人心，所以说是perceptive。 [quote] Joey: Ma, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but... what the hell are you talking about?! I mean, what about you? Mrs. Tribbiani: Me? I'm fine. Look, honey, in an ideal world, there'd be no her, and your father would look like Sting. And I'll tell you something else. [/quote] Disrespectful 不尊重。 Ideal world 理想世界。Attentive 注意的留心的殷勤的。Attention这个大家应该很容易记 得。这里是形容词。而且，男生如果对女生很留意很关心，一般就是在献殷勤 了。所以殷 勤的是个引申含义。 Anniversary 周年纪念。 [quote] Roger: Well, I'm not I'm not at all surprised they feel that way. Phoebe: You're not? See, that's why you're so great! Roger: Actually it's, it's quite, y'know, typical behaviour when you have this kind of dysfunctional group dynamic. [/quote] Behavior 行为。这个词我个人感觉很书面，一般都是涉及到学术或是啥的时候才会用到。 Dysfunctional “[医] 机能不良, 功能紊乱, 官能障碍”这里要注意dys这个前缀，一般指有 问题，有病症的。 Co-dependant 互相依赖， stunt 阻碍发育，阻碍成长。 我也不太明白这个shrink说的是啥意思。总之是引用了一些textbook里面的东西把这群人 抨击了一下。所以phoebe也开始不爽了。 [quote] Monica: So you talked to your dad, huh. [/quote] 看joey这一段的“长句”。每个句子都不是简单句但是读起来却并不拗口。我们写东西时候有时故意“追求”句子长结果搞的结构复杂让人读了不知所云，而且语句没有节奏。虽然joey这里是口语，但是，由简入繁嘛。 Restrain 限制，控制，管制。我不太清楚这个order具体是法院的还是只是家里的，但是总之是限制这个男孩活动了。 2x08 - The List 简单剧情介绍: 钱德有了一台新电脑。罗斯在朱丽和瑞秋之间摇摆不定，难以取舍。钱德建议说，列一张优缺点对照表来进行理性的判断;罗斯说瑞秋好像太爱漂亮，有点任性，乔伊漏记了“有点”;乔伊说瑞秋脚踝有点肥，还把瑞秋的名字打错了——说来说去，结果只列出了缺点。 至于朱丽，罗斯说她唯一的缺点是，“她不是瑞秋”。罗斯最终选择了瑞秋，但当瑞秋发现他竟用这种方法进行取舍，她又不乐意同罗斯交往了。莫妮卡找到一份新工作，为巧克力的代替品“魔克力”菜谱。 [quote] PHOE: Ok, all right, let's hear about the kiss. [/quote] Moral 道德; It's like I'm lookin' in a mirror. 咱俩真是太相像了。^^ 这句话值得背下来。类似我们“臭味 相投”或是“一丘之貉”; Allergic 过敏;对xxx过敏; 3x01 - The Princess Leia Fantasy 这一集难词不多，但是笑料不少。 简单情节如下: 莫妮卡因为和里查德分手而萎靡不振。乔伊受不了珍妮丝的腔调，而珍妮丝为促进他们之 间的互相了解，消除乔伊的偏见，特地邀请乔伊共度“有趣的一天”。罗斯和瑞秋谈论彼此 的性幻想。后来瑞秋把罗斯对莉亚公主的幻想告诉了菲比和莫妮卡。菲比帮助莫妮卡排遣 痛苦。罗斯和钱德交流了一下，结果钱德的说法搅乱了罗斯的思想。老盖勒(莫妮卡的爸 爸)来安慰莫妮卡。 [quote] RACHEL: Did you ever do the-the Leia thing? [/quote] Vain 空洞，无意义，这里我觉得是指开始犯傻，发火。Vain多数时候可以理解为 meaningless，如果无意义的做什么事，有可能就是在发傻，或是无意义的发火了。实在不 好理解的话，能记住meaningless的意思就好了。日常还有习惯用语in vain表示“徒劳， 无收益”或是“抱以轻慢不敬的态度”，也许ross这里就是这个表示态度的意思。 [quote] ROSS: Okay, look, we have nineteen minutes.
