G:Yes,They have two choices really.
T:Learn to use computers
G:Right. Learn to use computers, or find another job.
T:Either choice is difficult.
G:The employee is skilled on their work. They understand the process of making
clothing.
T:They just need to learn computer skills.
G:Right, they need to be skilled with the computers
A:As I asked you before, what do I do with my workers?
G:You could retrain them, or you could hire new workers.
A:I don't want to lay off people. Some of our employees have been with us for 20 years.
G:That loyalty is hard to replace.
A:But, it maybe difficult to retrain these workers.
G:True, it maybe easier to hire new ones.
A:There is a real trade off here.
G:If you hire new workers, you lose time rebuilding loyalty
A:If I retrain my old worker, I lose time while they are in training.
G:The bottom line is . you are going to lose time.
A: And time is money.
G:There are 3 factors to consider. Cost, time and loyalty
A:Cost? You mean how much? It will cost to retrain the worker?
G:And how much it will cost to train new ones.
A:Both will take time.
G:No.2 Time. Time spent in training, and time lost in production.
A:And lost time means lost revenue.
G:the third factor is loyalty. We talked about worker loyalty already.
A:And our loyalty to them. Our factory is like a family.
G:So your choice boils down to those factors: Cost, time and loyalty
