反恐24小时-第一季英文剧本22 24 Episode 1X22: 9:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Original Air Date: 05/07/2002 Info: *The scene in bold does not appear on the US release of the DVD. Jack Bauer voice over: Right now, terrorists are plotting to assassinate a presidential candidate. My wife and daughter have been targeted. And people that I work with may be involved in both. I'm Federal Agent Jack Bauer, and today is the longest day of my life. ------------------------ Previously on 24: David Palmer: This is our night. Mike Novick: Once you're in the White House, everything defers to the office. It's what you need to do the job. If it's your marriage that helps you, that's great. But if not, that's OK too. You can have whatever you want, David. ------------------------ Jack Bauer: We gotta get out of here. Which way? I抦 in an underground class-three detention facility. It's being used as a prison to house Victor Drazen. George Mason: What are you talking about? You said you took him out two years ago. Mark DeSalvo: Take cover! Andre Drazen: Let my father go, Bauer! Jack Bauer: The weapon's up! ------------------------ Jack Bauer: When does your suffering end, Victor? After you've killed all the thousands of enemies you have? Victor Drazen: Yes. I will offer you one consolation. Your family will be joining you soon. Jack Bauer: Your son Alexis - do you wanna see him again? We captured him and I know where he is. Victor Drazen: Get him in! ------------------------ Krugman: We're releasing you. Kim Bauer: Did my dad call? Krugman: No, but I talked to the people he works with. Kim Bauer: Have you spoken to my mom? Krugman: Yeah. She's waiting for you at CTU. Kim Bauer: Are you serious? Krugman: I'm serious. Teri Bauer: How did you end up in jail? Kim Bauer: I'll tell you everything when I get there. ------------------------ Kim Bauer: No! No! No! Help me! No! ------------------------ The following takes place between 9:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. on the day of the California Presidential Primary. [The masked men finish restraining Kimberly and take her into their truck.] Kim Bauer: No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! [Kim cries through the duct tape placed over her mouth.] ------------------------ [Palmer enters the hotel's banquet room to a rousing ovation from his supporters. He gives the partygoers words of inspiration for their latest campaign victory.] Man (over PA): And now I'm proud to present the future president of the United States: Senator David Palmer. Congratulations, Senator. David Palmer: Hey, we did it. You know, this is our victory, and when we started out they said the country wasn't ready. They said it couldn't be done, that it would never happen. Well, here we are, still standing tall. And when we look back at this amazing time we can all say that we were a part of history. We can all say that we did our part to make this world a better place, and, God willing, our children and our children's children will reap the benefits of the seeds we sow right now. ------------------------ [From Drazen's red van, Jack calls Nina at CTU.] Nina Myers: CTU. Myers. Jack Bauer: Nina, it's me. Nina Myers: Jack, where are you? Jack Bauer: I'm with Andre and Victor Drazen. Nina Myers: What do you mean? Where? Jack Bauer: Nina, just listen to me. I'm being held hostage. The reason why I'm calling is Victor wants confirmation that his son Alexis is still alive. Nina Myers: He's in the hospital. I can try to get through to his room. Jack Bauer: OK, do it. Nina Myers: OK. Hold on. Tony, get me the hospital. I need Alexis Drazen on line two. [Tony calls the hospital.] Tony Almeida: Yeah, this is Tony Almeida at CTU?br /> George Mason: I just spoke to the backup team. Drazen escaped. I want a net over that entire area. I want one-mile, three-mile and five-mile mobile barriers. Nina Myers: George, we know. We've got Jack on the line. He's with Victor Drazen right now. George Mason: What? Tony Almeida: Hey, Nina. I've got Alexis Drazen. Nina Myers: Transfer it. [Tony transfers the call.] Alexis Drazen: Who?who is this? Jack Bauer: Hold on. Victor Drazen: Alexie? Alexis Drazen: Father. Where?where are you? Did you get out? Victor Drazen: Alexie, what happened? What have they done to you? Alexis Drazen: You?you always said that?I would get in trouble with women. You were right. Forgive me, Father. I failed you. Victor Drazen: You have not failed. You are alive. I am free. Alexis Drazen: Free. Victor Drazen: Hold on, Alexie. We will be together soon. Alexis Drazen: No, Papa. You go without me. I'm not going to make it. Victor Drazen: You will make it. Be strong. Tell me you can do this. Alexis Drazen: Yeah, Papa. Victor Drazen: Now, I have something to say to the rest of you. I am willing to trade the life of Jack Bauer for that of my son. George Mason: Mr. Drazen, this is George Mason again. I'm the acting head of the CTU, but I don't have the authority to make that trade. Victor Drazen: If you do not have the authority, you are not the head of anything. Talk to your superiors. We will call back in 15 minutes. Be ready to respond without qualification. ------------------------ [Palmer is still giving his speech.] David Palmer: And let me remind you that when I was ten points behind in the polls, I told you I had a plan that on this date we were gonna celebrate, party nomination in hand. Well, promise delivered. This campaign has been an uphill battle. [Sherry goes over to talk to Patty.] Sherry Palmer: Hi. Patty Brooks: Hi. David Palmer: It抯 not always easy to do the right thing. Sherry Palmer: I'm not gonna be able to go to Dallas with David tomorrow. David Palmer: Believe me when I tell you this. Patty Brooks: Why not? David Palmer: We are doing the right thing. Sherry Palmer: I committed to a National Youth Service Day event here in LA. David Palmer: And we are gonna continue doing the right thing all the way to the White House. Patty Brooks: That's OK. I can reschedule that for you. Sherry Palmer: No, Patty, I don't. I don抰 want you to reschedule. David and I could use a couple of days apart. But I don't want him to feel alone, OK? David Palmer: We will not relent. Patty Brooks: Whatever you want. David Palmer: Because for us doing the right thing is the only thing to do. Thank you, everybody. Have a good time, 慶ause tomorrow we start all over again. All the way to the White House. ------------------------ Nina Myers: You talked to Chappelle? George Mason: Yeah. No trade. Nina Myers: What? George Mason: This whole Victor Drazen thing is a big embarrassment for them. If they do a trade, it's an admission that he's alive, that the DOD has been keeping him here secretly, and that on top of that they let him escape. Nina Myers: So they're just gonna sacrifice Jack? George Mason: He's like all the rest of us. Expendable. Nina Myers: Is that what you think? George Mason: It doesn't matter what I think. I don't think he walks on water the way you do, but I don't wanna see him hung out to dry either. Nina, I tried. Nina Myers: George, without the trade, how are they gonna locate Drazen? George Mason: My guess is they won't even try. They'll let him get out of the country and pick him up in Europe somewhere down the line. Nina Myers: If we do the trade, then we know exactly where he is. George Mason: Hey, you're preaching to the choir. That's exactly what I just got through saying to Chappelle. They don't wanna draw attention to the situation. End of story. Nina Myers: So that's it. We just go back to work and let Jack die. George Mason: What can I say? Nina Myers: Nothing. [Nina leaves Mason抯 office. She goes into the conference room to let Teri know what抯 going on.] Teri Bauer: Nina. Shouldn't Kim be here by now? Nina Myers: Well, they just left the police station. I mean, she should be here soon. Teri Bauer: I never did hear what happened with her. Nina Myers: She was arrested by mistake. Listen, Teri. Kim's fine. That's not the problem. Teri Bauer: What do you mean? What's going on? Nina Myers: It's confirmed. Jack's been captured. He's being held hostage. We're doing everything we can to bring him back, but?br /> Teri Bauer: Wait. What do they want? Nina Myers: It's hard to say. Teri Bauer: Well, tell me what you know. Nina Myers: This guy Drazen wants to trade Jack for his son Alexis, who we have. Teri Bauer: Well, then, he'll be OK, right? Nina Myers: No. The government won't make the trade. Teri Bauer: What do you mean, they won't make the trade? How are they gonna get Jack back? Nina Myers: They're not. Jack's on his own. I'm sorry. ------------------------ [Andre and Victor bring Jack to the basement of a Slavic restaurant to hide.] Andre Drazen (over phone): There can be no flaws and it must be done soon. I don't care how much it costs or how many men you need. We're out of here by midnight. Call me back. Let me know. [Andre shows his men where to put Jack.] Andre Drazen: There. Sit. Nikola: Victor. Victor Drazen: Ah, my good, good friend. Nikola: I never thought I would see you again. Victor Drazen: How is your family? Nikola: They are eager to see you. Victor Drazen: Ah, soon. Is everything prepared? Nikola: Yes. Please, come in. Victor, I would like you to meet my daughter, Mila. Victor Drazen: Mila, right. Mila: Hello. Victor Drazen: How beautiful. Mila: Thank you. Victor Drazen: Just like your mother. Nikola: Yes, but she got my temper. Victor Drazen: Ah! No good. That is no good. Mila: We have some fresh clothes for you, whenever you're ready. Victor Drazen: To you and your family. Would you like something to eat, Jack? Jack Bauer: No. [Andre makes a call on his cell phone.] ------------------------ [Mason is battling with his superiors to save Jack.] George Mason: It doesn抰 make any sense. How does letting a senior CTU agent die help keep Victor Drazen out of the news? [Teri comes into Mason抯 office and interrupts him.] George Mason: Teri, I'm busy. Can Nina help you now? Teri Bauer: No. I'm talking to you right now. George Mason: Yeah. I'll call you right back, all right? [Mason hangs up.] Teri Bauer: You are not gonna let my husband die. George Mason: No one is gonna let Jack die. We just can't go through with the trade right now. Teri Bauer: There's no difference. Without your help he doesn抰 have a chance. George Mason: With an ordinary agent, I'd agree with you. Jack's got a Special Forces background. I've seen him do the impossible. Teri Bauer: Stop patronizing me, Mr. Mason. You've been doing it all night. Just tell me what you are prepared to do to help my husband. George Mason: Fine. I'll stop patronizing you. I'll tell you exactly what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna call up Division. I'm gonna ask them to reconsider one more time and they're gonna say no and that'll be the end of it. Anything else? [Teri leaves Mason抯 office and goes to talk to Nina.] Teri Bauer: Nina. I'm asking you, as someone who cares about Jack, we cannot just stand by and watch him die. Nina Myers: I know. I agree. I'm already doing something about it. Teri Bauer: What do you mean? What are you doing? Nina Myers: I think there's someone who can help Jack. It's not exactly procedure, so I can't talk about it. You're just gonna have to trust me. Teri Bauer: OK. Nina Myers: OK. [Nina dials the phone.] Woman: Palmer campaign. Nina Myers: Hi. This is Nina Myers at CTU. I need to talk to Senator Palmer. Woman: Will you hold the line, please, Miss Myers? Nina Myers: Yes. ------------------------ David Palmer: No, I can't take all the credit for the speech. Oh, Patty. See, this is the lady you should be complimenting. We were just talking about you. Patty Brooks: Oh, really? David Palmer: Yes. They loved the speech tonight. Now, among other things, Patty's the brain trust behind most of my public addresses. Woman: Excuse me, Senator. Nina Myers at CTU. OK? David Palmer: Would you excuse me? I have to take this. Patty Brooks: Sure. Woman: It抯 so nice to meet you. [Palmer takes Nina抯 call.] David Palmer: This is David Palmer. Nina Myers: Senator, thank you for taking my call. David Palmer: What can I do for you, Miss Myers? Nina Myers: Jack's in trouble. He needs your help. David Palmer: What kind of trouble? Nina Myers: Well, there's no time to catch up with everything that抯 happened, but let me just give you the headlines. Victor Drazen is alive. David Palmer: Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What do you mean, he's alive? Nina Myers: That's all we know. He was being held prisoner by the US government up until about an hour ago. David Palmer: OK. What happened an hour ago? Nina Myers: He escaped and he's taken Jack hostage. He's willing to trade Jack for his son Alexis. David Palmer: What's DOD's response? Nina Myers: They're refusing to get directly involved. David Palmer: Who knows you contacted me? Nina Myers: No one. David Palmer: All right. Who's actually talking to Drazen? Nina Myers: George Mason. David Palmer: Tell me about him. Nina Myers: Well, normally he's by the book. But he's very ambitious and very political. David Palmer: OK. Look, I'm gonna make a few calls first. Where can I reach Mason? Nina Myers: Here at CTU. He's in Jack's office. David Palmer: All right. Nina Myers: Thank you, Senator. ------------------------ Dana (over phone): Are you sure? OK. [Dana goes over to Tony.] Dana: Tony. Tony Almeida: Dana, what's up? Dana: Kim's car was hit. Two cops are down and she was taken. Tony Almeida: What? Dana: Yeah. Tony Almeida: Was there any communication? Any witnesses? Dana: They're working it up now. Tony Almeida: All right. Let me know what you find out, all right? [Dana leaves.] Nina Myers: Tony, I'm gonna need to talk to you in a few minutes. Tony? Tony Almeida: What? Nina Myers: Are you all right? Tony Almeida: No. We got a problem. [Teri approaches Nina and Tony.] Teri Bauer: Hey. Any word on Kim? Tony Almeida: Uh, I was just about to check. Teri Bauer: Well, she should be here any minute, right? Tony Almeida: Yeah. Nina Myers: Teri, I'm sorry. Do you mind waiting in the conference room? Teri Bauer: Sure. Nina Myers: Thanks. [Teri leaves.] Nina Myers: What's going on? Tony Almeida: They grabbed Kim again. Nina Myers: What? Tony Almeida: It must have been Drazen. The patrol car she was riding in was hit. Nina Myers: I don't believe this. Tony Almeida: Are you gonna tell her? ------------------------ [The phone rings.] George Mason: Mason. Woman: Sir, I have Senator Palmer on the line for you. George Mason: Oh, yeah, yeah. Put him through. David Palmer: Hello. George Mason: Senator Palmer, this is George Mason. It's an honor to speak to you, sir. David Palmer: I want you to reverse your orders on the Bauer-for-Drazen trade. George Mason: Uh, I'm not sure how much information you have about this, but this is agency business and, with all due respect, it doesn't fall under the Senate's purview. David Palmer: As you well know, Mr. Mason, your entire agency falls under presidential purview and in nine months I will be in that office. George Mason: I'm not sure if that's meant to tempt or threaten me. It doesn't matter either way because I don't have the authority to pull the trigger on this one. David Palmer: From what I'm told, Mr. Mason, that authority is something you'd like to have someday. George Mason: What's that supposed to mean? David Palmer: Act on your own prerogative. Go through with the trade. You'll be reprimanded, possibly even demoted. George Mason: So far it sounds great. David Palmer: Within the first month of my term I'll instate you in a high-level position in Washington. You'll bypass five years of middle management. George Mason: And if you don't get elected? David Palmer: That's not gonna happen. Think about it, George. ------------------------ Andre Drazen: Transportation has been arranged. Victor Drazen: There were problems with last-minute changes? Andre Drazen: It's going to cost more. Victor Drazen: How much? Andre Drazen: 200,000. Victor Drazen: You should try, Jack. The borek - It is wonderful. [Mila caters to Victor. Jack watches this closely.] Mila: Do you need anything else? Victor Drazen: No. Everything is perfect. Mila: My father told me to take good care of you. Victor Drazen: The service was impeccable and my compliments to the chef. Mila: Thank you. It was my mother's recipe. [Jack manages to knock down a guard and grab a knife. Jack then holds the knife to Mila's throat.] Jack Bauer: Drop the weapons! Drop the weapons! Put your weapons down! Put your weapons down or I'll cut her throat! Drop the weapons! Victor Drazen: Put them down. [Everyone puts their weapons down.] Jack Bauer: You too, Victor. Victor Drazen: Of course. Jack Bauer: Drop the weapon! [Victor shoots Mila in the head, killing her. The guards apprehend Jack.] Jack Bauer: You son of a bitch. Victor Drazen: One more death for you to atone for, Jack. Jack Bauer: You son of a bitch! How could you do this? [Andre comes inside. He is furious about things spiraling out of control.] Andre Drazen: What happened? Victor Drazen: Call CTU now. Tell them I want your brother Alexis here now. Andre Drazen: Tie his hands behind his back. And keep her father away from here. You're supposed to be watching him. What am I paying you for? [Andre makes a call on his cell phone.] ------------------------ [Tony comes up to Mason抯 office.] George Mason: Where's Teri? Tony Almeida: She抯 in the conference room. [The phone rings.] George Mason: Mason. Andre Drazen: Mr. Mason. What have you decided? Mr. Mason? George Mason: We're gonna do the swap on our terms. Andre Drazen: Yeah, that's an interesting dream. The swap will take place exactly 30 minutes from now. The address is 2127 Grand Avenue. A green SUV will be waiting. Place my brother inside the vehicle. George Mason: What about Jack? Andre Drazen: When my brother's in position I'll direct you to Bauer. You have 29 minutes. [Tony locates the address.] Tony Almeida: I got it. 2127 Grand Avenue. It's a repair garage. George Mason: Get a hold of Chris Porterfield over at LAPD and tell him we're gonna be taking over the streets in that area for the next two hours. [Mason gets ready to leave.] Tony Almeida: All right. Where are you going? George Mason: The hospital, to get Alexis. Tony Almeida: The guy just got stabbed in the stomach today. They're not gonna let him out. George Mason: They're gonna have to. ------------------------ [Palmer is talking to someone over the phone.] David Palmer: Oh, no, don't worry. My name's not gonna be even close to this. Man: This conversation has to end right here between us two. David Palmer: I agree. Man: OK, then. David Palmer: Look, I gotta get back. Man: We're clear? David Palmer: Yeah. [Palmer hangs up. Sherry comes up to him.] Sherry Palmer: There you are. David, where have you been? David Palmer: I had to make some calls. Sherry Palmer: Just in case you haven't noticed, everyone is here to see you. You need to make an impression, not phone calls. David Palmer: I know what I have to do, Sherry. Sherry Palmer: Do you really? David Palmer: Don't talk down to me, Sherry. I don't like it. Sherry Palmer: I only hope the all this weakness you've shown today is because you missed a night's sleep and that you'll be back on your game tomorrow. Otherwise we will be buried before this election even happens. Steven! No, stay. I'll be over. Get to work. [Sherry leaves to greet a campaign supporter. Patty approaches Palmer.] Patty Brooks: Senator? The Wall Street Journal had a couple of questions for you. I put together some of your past quotes so you wouldn't have to bother with it. I?I hope that's all right. David Palmer: Sure. Well, don't you look gorgeous tonight? Patty Brooks: Oh,you've seen this before. David Palmer: It's not just the dress. Patty Brooks: Thank you. David Palmer: Patty, I've been thinking. Since this incident with Keith is out in the open, it's gonna shift the focus of every interview, every press conference. Patty Brooks: Yeah. I抳e already started a Q and A of all the questions to expect over the next couple of days. David Palmer: Have you talked to Mike about this? Patty Brooks: Not yet. I need a little bit more time to prepare. David Palmer: You know, I'd really like to see whatever you have so far. Patty Brooks: Sure. Whenever you want. David Palmer: How about now? Patty Brooks: Now? David Palmer: Yeah. Everybody seems to be having a good time. There's an open bar. And I doubt anyone will even notice I'm gone. Patty Brooks: I doubt that that's true, Senator. David Palmer: In any event, I could use some quiet time. You stay here. Just tell me where your notes are. Patty Brooks: Well, if you don't mind, I'd rather walk you through it. It would make more sense to you that way. David Palmer: OK. Why don't you meet me upstairs in, say, five minutes? Patty Brooks: Sure. ------------------------ [Nikola grieves over the body of his daughter. Victor consoles him.] Victor Drazen: Ah. My dear friend. It's not what you think. I have lost my wife and daughter. You, both of your brothers and now Mila. This is what our enemies have done to us. He would have killed her, and not in a merciful way. Nikola: How could you do this? Murderer. You killed my daughter. You killed my daughter! You murderer! You?br /> [Without flinching, Victor shoots Nikola. Kim is dragged in.] Andre Drazen: All right. We have to get out of here. We抮e running out of time. Jack Bauer: Kim! Andre Drazen: Get him in the van. Get this place cleaned out. [A guard throws a hood over Jack's face and carries him up the stairs. Kim is left in the basement with the dead bodies.] ------------------------ Teri Bauer: Nina. What's happening? Are they gonna help Jack? Nina Myers: Yes. They're gonna make the trade. Teri Bauer: Well, that's good, isn't it? I mean, what do you think? Will he be safe? Nina Myers: I think so. Victor wants his son back, so I don't think he'll pull anything. Teri Bauer: Oh, thank God. And when's this gonna happen? Nina Myers: 10, 15 minutes. Mason's already left to pick up Alexis. Teri Bauer: That's so good. I can hardly wait for this whole thing to be over. I think when Jack and Kim arrive, I'll just have to collapse in a big heap. Nina Myers: Do you need anything else? Teri Bauer: Um?Actually, there is one thing. I know Kim's on her way over here but it would make me feel so much better if I could speak to her on the phone. Is there any way that you could patch me through to the police car? Nina Myers: We were so busy tracking Jack, I didn't have a chance to check on them. Um?Yeah, let me see if that's possible. Teri Bauer: Thank you. Nina. I know it's been a really long day for you too, and I guess I want you to know how much I appreciate your being upfront with me about everything. Nina Myers: Sure. [Nina leaves the conference room. Nina approaches Tony.] Nina Myers: I couldn't tell her. I just couldn't after everything she's been through. Tony Almeida: I understand. Are you OK? Nina Myers: I just?I just feel like I'm not doing my job. Tony Almeida: Look, there's nothing wrong with the way you're doing your job, OK? I mean, ultimately, we're here to try to help people, right? I don't know anybody who does that better than you. Nina Myers: Thanks. Tony Almeida: You're welcome. ------------------------ [In the van, Jack begs for his daughter's life.] Jack Bauer: You gotta let my daughter go. She's got nothing to do with this. You want me to do something for you? Fine, I'll do it, but you let my daughter go. I'm not?br /> Andre Drazen: After what you have done, I should kill you and your daughter right now. Don't test me. Jack Bauer: You're not thinking this through, Andre. You have a chance to get out of this country with your brother and your father alive. You start killing innocents, they'll never let you go and you抣l never?br /> Vicror Drazen: Enough! [Andre pulls a gun on Jack.] Andre Drazen: Your best tactic right now, Mr. Bauer, is to be quiet and let my father rest. Jack Bauer: OK. OK. ------------------------ [In the hotel suite, Palmer and Patty go over the facts about Carl and the financiers' unorthodox actions.] Patty Brooks: OK, here's how I broke it down. There are gonna be questions about the night that Keith went to see Lyle Gibson. What happened? Why was he there? Was his death an accident? Why was it covered up? David Palmer: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's be careful when we mention 揷over-up? When we talk about this, we say 揻ailed to come forth? Patty Brooks: It's a good point. OK. Which leads me to the second group of questions: who knew and who didn't? Did you know? If not, who did know and tried to keep it from you? David Palmer: Good. Good. What else? Patty Brooks: Ferragamo's death. Now, that is gonna be a hot story. There's gonna be lots of room for speculation. David Palmer: Look, look, look? All I care about with Ferragamo is that the public knows, in no uncertain terms, that Carl and the Latham Group were acting outside of our influence. Patty Brooks: No, no, they will. Mike has already started setting up interviews with all the major papers. He's just clearing up some points with your attorney and by the morning you should be able to speak freely and get the word out. David Palmer: When did you have time to do all this? Patty Brooks: In the last couple of hours. David Palmer: You wrote two speeches for me today. Patty Brooks: If I don't help you get into the White House, I'm out of a job. David Palmer: Would you care for a glass of champagne? Patty Brooks: Sure. [Palmer pours champagne for Patty and for himself.] David Palmer: When do you find time for a life? Patty Brooks: Well, this is my life. David Palmer: Oh, no, no, no. I mean a boyfriend. Friends. Patty Brooks: Ah. I know. I should get out more. David Palmer: Yeah, you should. [Palmer gives Patty the glass of champagne.] David Palmer: Here you go. Patty Brooks: Thanks. David Palmer: You're welcome. Cheers. Patty Brooks: Mm. What are we drinking to? David Palmer: To taking five minutes off, starting now. Patty Brooks: Mm, well. Hear, hear. David Palmer: Hear, hear. Patty Brooks: So, um, you and Sherry were childhood sweethearts? David Palmer: That's right. Patty Brooks: And there's never been anyone else? David Palmer: I'm running for president, Patty. I can't answer that. Patty Brooks: Come on. David Palmer: Are you flirting with me, Patty? Patty Brooks: I don't know. I think I might be. David Palmer: This is good. Tell Mike I wanna meet with him on this first thing in the morning. I want you there. Call Everly. Someone from legal should be there too. Patty Brooks: Done. David Palmer: And?it wouldn't hurt to put in a little more face time downstairs. Patty Brooks: I think you might be right. David Palmer: Shall we? Patty Brooks: Yes. [Palmer and Patty go back to the party.] ------------------------ [The Drazen van pulls up to a field with an oil rig.] Andre Drazen: Wait here, Father. [Andre has his men tether Jack to a post.] Andre Drazen: If your people deliver my brother as promised, you'll live. If not, then you'll die here. There are sniper rifles currently aiming at you. They await my instructions. Jack Bauer: What about my daughter? Andre Drazen: You'll hear from us when this is over - if you make it that far - and to dissuade you from wasting valuable time trying to trace, I prepared a scrambled phone. [Andre puts the untraceable cell phone into Jack's pocket.] Jack Bauer: What do you want me to do? Andre Drazen: Not yet. [Andre leaves in the van.] Jack Bauer: What do you want me to do?! [Jack is left alone, unsure what to do next.] ------------------------ John: Oh, Senator. David Palmer: Hey, John. Thanks for coming. Hey, Michael. Thanks for coming. Look at you. Don't you look nice? Man: Sir. David Palmer: Hey, how are you? Woman: Senator. Sherry Palmer: Oh, there you are. I'd like for you to meet Doctors Bryan Chasin and Darrell Maines from UCLA. David Palmer: Yes, of course. You're the gentlemen doing such wonderful work in AIDS research. Sherry Palmer: Sweetheart, I need to look after something. David Palmer: Uh-huh. Sherry Palmer: Excuse me. David Palmer: So, what isn't the government doing for you that we could fix next term? [Sherry pulls Patty aside.] Sherry Palmer: Patty? Patty Brooks: Hi. Sherry Palmer: You were upstairs with David, weren't you? Patty Brooks: Yes. Sherry Palmer: Good. What happened? Patty Brooks: I did what you told me. Sherry Palmer: And? Patty Brooks: I think it's working. Mrs. Palmer, I'm not sure where all of this is going. Sherry Palmer: All you need to know is that this is for his own good and for the good of his campaign. What's the problem?Patty? I thought you liked David. This shouldn't be a tough assignment for you. Patty Brooks: I do like him. It's just hard for me to deceive him like this. Sherry Palmer: I understand your hesitation. But I know my husband better than anybody, and he needs someone like you right now. Patty Brooks: But it's gonna lead to other things, Mrs. Palmer. Sherry Palmer: Well, we'll just deal with that when the time comes. Oh, cherries. Mm. Thanks. ------------------------ [Mason brings Alexis Drazen in an ambulance to the arranged meeting place. They roll Alexis' gurney to the waiting green SUV.] George Mason: Everyone in position. OK, we're here. Stay outside the perimeter. Let's just get in and get out. Here's Alexis. Where's Jack? Harris: What's wrong with him? George Mason: Nothing. He'll be fine. Harris: Alexis, are you all right? [Alexis nods his head yes. Harris calls Andre.] Andre Drazen: Yes? Harris: Alexis is hurt. Andre Drazen: How badly? Harris: Worse than we thought. George Mason: He's fine. Harris: We need a doctor. Andre Drazen: I'll have one there when you arrive. Go. George Mason: So what are we doing here? Harris: Once we are satisfied that you're not following us, we'll give you Jack's location. George Mason: That's unacceptable. We need to know where Jack is now. [Harris gets ready to leave with Alexis.] George Mason: Hold it right there. [Mason pulls out a gun.] George Mason: Move to second position. We have a problem. Harris: Are you going to shoot me? George Mason: Maybe you should have taken a few more English lessons. 揟 rade?means we get something too. I want Jack now or you're all coming back with us. Harris: We have Jack's daughter. You must know that by now. George Mason: So what are you saying? We抮e gonna get Jack and his daughter? Harris: My English is clear. You're going to get back Jack, as discussed. George Mason: What about the daughter? Harris: That's not my concern. George Mason: I need to talk to Drazen. Harris: If you keep holding me here, I can't return Alexis to his father. We are on a schedule, remember? George Mason: All right. Move back to the perimeter. We're gonna have to let them go. We'll be waiting to hear from you. [Mason allows the green SUV to leave. Mason radios Nina.] George Mason: Nina, do you copy? Nina Myers: Yeah, I have them. As soon as we get Jack we'll take them down. George Mason: OK. We're standing by. [After he pulls away, Harris waves a signal detector over Alexis' body and produces a tracking device on the hospital wristband. Harris removes it and smashes it on the ground.] Nina Myers: Dammit. George Mason: What's wrong? Nina Myers: They found the tracker. We lost them. ------------------------ [Andre gives the signal to his sharpshooters to release Jack. At the oil rig, a shot rings out from an undisclosed location. The restraint is blown off, freeing Jack. The cell phone in his pocket rings.] Jack Bauer: Yeah? Andre Drazen: Just south of the platform there's a parked car. If you want to see Kim alive, talk to no one, get into it, head towards Century City. Jack Bauer: Wait, wait. [Andre hangs up. Jack gets inside the car and drives.] ____________________
