Some of the Problems Facing Learners of English Today,my purpose of speech is to help some students find their problems and to suggest them how to overcome these problems. All right,now let me introduce these problems to you.Psychologically,these students study abroad fearing of the environment around them.For instance,they worry about their academic studies.My suggestion of solving this problem is that these students should not look too far ahead.At the same time,they suffer a lot from separation from their family.Most of them have homesickness.For them,the good way to get rid of these negative emotions is to enjoy activity and have fun.I believe that with the passage of time,they will adapt themselves to their new life in the foreign country.Cultural differences are also a major problem to them.They have to take some practical ones into consideration,such as the arrangement of accommodation and getting used to British money,food and weather.Especially,the British way of life is a new challenge.These students will live in the strange environment and have a new routine.Learning social habits,expressing appropriate greetings,understand British humor,learn to make friends are necessary to them.If they are open-minded and adaptable as much as possible.I believe they will soon integrate into local life. Linguistic hinders their way to learn English.Little practice in using English contributes to our great shock when we first speak to English people.We discover that they have difficulty in understanding English people.There are several probable reasons for these problems.Firstly,English people speak extremely quickly.Secondly,English people speak with variety of accent.Thirdly,various styles pf speech are used in different situations. Effective solutions can be taken:In the first place,you should attend English classes and use language lab as much as possible.Next,you can listen to the radio and TV.Then,the most important point is that you should take any chances of meeting English people and talk with them.Last,I tell you how to improve spoken English.You are required to simplify your language.You can use short sentences.What’s more,you should think in English and not translate it into Chinese.Of course,the basic is to practice speaking as much as possible.The effective way to learn English is to take advantage of English structure and pay attention to the imitating educated usage of English people.
