英语章子怡 Zhang Ziyi,who was born on February9,1979,is a Chinese film actress and singer.Zhang in one of the Four Young Dan actresses in China.She has worked with very famous directors such as Zhang Yimou,Wong Kar-Wai,Jackie Chan and so on. At the age of 19,Zhang was offered her first role(角 色)in Zhang Yimou’s The Rood Home.She won the Silver Bear award in the 2000 Berlin Film Festival.Because of the success of the film Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon,she won several awards in the West.But Zhang’s first appearance(露面)in an American movie was in Rush Hour2.Zhang then appeared in Hero,which was a huge success in ghe English-speaking world.After that,she starred in the films 2046,Memoirs of a Geisha,etc.And she was very successful in all these films. On June 27,2005,Zhang acceoted(接受)an invitation to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences(AMPAS).In May 2006,Zhang became the youngest member to sit on the jury(影评人)of the Cannes Film Festival.In the autumn of 2006,Zhang played Empress Wan in The Banguet.Zhang later starred in Forever Enthralled(Mei Lanfang)(2008) and apppeared in The Horsemen(2009)with Dennis Quaid.
