J Team Productions is driving this production under the supervision of MediaCorp Raintree Pictures. This movie is centred among 3 teenagers, Jerry, Tom and Cheng Cai. From the team who gave you I Not Stupid 《小孩不笨》, this time Director Jack Neo delves into the generation gaps that working parents are now facing with their children and unveil the children’s inner emotions. Mr. Daniel Yun, CEO of MediaCorp Raintree Pictures said, “I Not Stupid is the most successful local film ever made. It is, in many ways, a coming of age film for the local movie industry and a cultural landmark. It also has the attributes of a break out hit. We hope to produce a worthy sequel. We also hope to build on the success of the original movie to broaden the appeal of it to a wider audience. Hopefully this movie will travel to those markets the original and other local films have yet to conquer. Most of the key people involved in the original will also be back for this sequel.” I Not Stupid Too 《小 孩不笨 2》 is scheduled to hit theatres in November 2005 and is marketed locally by MediaCorp Raintree Pictures. This movie stars Shawn Lee, Joshua Ang and Ashley Leong. Supporting them are popular artistes including veterans Xiang Yun and Huang Yi-Liang. Jack Neo will once again appear on screen with Xiang Yun as a married couple. This movie is shot on 35mm and filmed entirely in Singapore. Principle photography commenced in June 2005 and was completed in July 2005. More than often, parents think they understand their children, based on the reasoning of I-gave-birth-to-you-so-I-know. But do they really? A child is most vulnerable at teen years, which is without doubt the most crucial period in the development of the child. A single wrong move by the parents can result in a lifetime of regrets. How well aware are the parents of this fact? Set in Singapore’s fast-paced modern society, the narrative progresses through the eyes of 9-year-old Jerry as he and his older brother, Tom, face the pressures of school and demands of their wealthy but ever-bickering parents. Along also for the ride is Tom’s friend, Cheng Cai, who is often misunderstood by his teacher at school, and whose own predicament with his single hawker-stall owning father reveals the film’s deep concern with the generation gap between its characters. Through Tom and Cheng Cai, the film also delves into juvenile delinquency as a result of this breakdown in communication, while Jerry simultaneously runs around trying to get his parents to attend his upcoming performance in school. He is a great man with humble origins. He believes everyone has his own road to success and he upholds his beliefs throughout his 30 years of relentless contribution towards the local entertainment industry. During the 1990’s, he won the local audience over with his signature comedic hosting style in variety programmes. Apart from hosting and acting then, he was the creative brain behind the longest running local and high rated variety show, Comedy Night 《搞笑行動》. The popularity of the decade-long production is a strong testament of Jack’s remarkable talents and creativity. The unprecedented scope of Director Jack Neo’s talent encompasses all the major disciplines – acting, directing, singing, lyrics composing, producing and scriptwriting. To excel in just one area is rare; to excel at the lot is nothing less than extraordinary. The thespian has acted in countless productions and garnered bags of accolades. Her versatility enables her to tackle both leading and supporting roles. She started as an actress in the Drama Training Class in the 80s. Her first major role was that of an ill-fated and long-suffering wife who was sold to Singapore in The Awakening 《霧鎖南洋》. Her name was constantly used to helm major productions that were well received by viewers. Her efforts were recognised when she was awarded the “Best Supporting Actress” twice (1998 & 2000) in the station's annual Star Awards. Not satisfied with just acting in the small screen, Xiang Yun went onto stage in the first local Chinese musical December Rains 《雨季》. She has also forayed into hosting recently and viewers' response has been favourable. Her endearing and easy-going hosting style has made her a household name. This award-winning actress made her silver screen debut in My Valentine 《二月十四》, a Taiwanese production, followed by I Not Stupid 《小孩不笨》, which is the second highest money grossing local film in Singapore. He started playing supporting roles in the earlier part of his acting career. But that made him more determined to get ahead of other artistes in his cohort. In 1998, Yi-Liang took a hiatus from acting to concentrate on his other interests. He rejoined MediaCorp in 2001 when he was approached again to sign up as an artiste. His comeback role saw him acting as a gluttony genie that would do anything for food. The role got him nominated as “Best Comedy Performer” in Star Awards, an annual award ceremony for local TV personalities. The sitcom, My Genie 《小精靈》, was so well received that another season was launched he following year. In 2002, Yi-Liang outstanding performance won him recognition in Star Awards and he received the “Best Supporting Actor” award for his villainous role in The Vagrant 《豹子膽》 as an unscrupulous husband who would do anything for money. Hardly one to rest on his laurels, Yi-Liang went on to delight the viewers with the role of Tian Da Hua in Holland V 《荷蘭村》, a loud mouth and good-for- nothing husband who refuses to work yet dreams to be a politician. This first ever 125-episode drama serial proved to be hugely successful and is one of the highest rated dramas since 2001. Yi-Liang’s acting versatility landed him another role in Double Happiness 《喜臨門》 & Double Happiness II 《喜臨門 II》 which is currently the longest drama serial in Singapore with a total of 142 episodes. Joshua Ang 洪賜健 (成才) Encouraged by his auntie to come for I Not Stupid 《小孩不笨》 casting audition, Joshua was immediately spotted by Director Jack Neo for his boyish clean-cut look and he certainly was what Jack is looking for. Joshua created a stir not only back home, but in Malaysia and Hong Kong as well. A group of loyal fans also designed a personal website for him. He later also acted in Homerun 《跑吧,孩子》, and got himself a role in Comedy Nite’s skit. In Comedy Nite 《搞笑行動》, he acted as Liang Xi Mei’s son, Albert. A “Searching For Albert’s Classmate” was held during the show and has attracted more than one thousand teenage girls to come for audition. He sure is a hit with the girls! Apart from Homerun 《跑吧,孩子》, Shawn has also starred in I Not Stupid 《小孩不笨》 movie and sitcom as well as several product advertisements. Off screen, Shawn is an extrovert who loves basketball game and aspires to play in NBA when he grows up. However, to Shawn, studies come before everything else at the present moment. Fame has not shaken the boy’s focus on the importance of academic excellence. Shawn’s innate acting talent, coupled with his amicable appearance, is certainly going to make him the next big star in no time.
