中美文化差异 The differences between Chinese culture and American culture Culture varies from country to country, which is no wonder that many people suffer from cultural shock when they come abroad. Yet nowadays, some people think that the culture of US and China posses a close affinity to each other. But, I don’t think so, and I hold out that the two cultures are different from each other, especially in the respect of their religion beliefs, and the values. At first, the difference of religion beliefs exists in the two cultures. In the first place, the Confucianism is popular among Chinese since the ancient time from Han Dynasty, which puts that people are born with seniors and juniors, and superior and inferiors, while in American society, people tend to believe in the God and Jesus, which hold the belief that everyone are created equal; In the second place, about the attitude towards family, in China, the young should respect those who are old, such as their parents. In other words, filial duty is very important for the young. Meanwhile, the old should also take the responsibility to look after the young. But, in the American society, they think that family is used to bring up children who may nurtured by God. So, they have no right to punish children. If they do so, they will be punished by the law. Moreover, when the children become adults, they should independent and leave their parents. In addition, we cannot neglect the value differences between them. The prominent value of China lies in seeking collective interest rather than individual interest, which is not the same as American. We are always encouraged to place collective interest in front of the personal one, and give up in some time if necessary. But, in America, things are different. They are always put their personal interest before the collective one. Besides, they put more emphasize on their own affairs without caring others much. In fact, differences arise in everywhere and exist in everything. Because China and the US have different history, location and some other factors, so they apparently stand in opposite situation in every ways. To contrast the differences is not our destinations, and what we want to do is just promote cultural progress, as well as our society.
