My view on china’s Higher education
Higher education plays a key role for us at a time in life. Due to its importance in the economic construction, science progress and social development, the present problems of higher education cannot go unchallenged.
It is not difficult job for us to come up with some problems that underlie the current condition of china’s higher education. Firstly, traditional higher education pays much attention to the examination system. A student can or can’t gain scholarship and graduate late is measured by weather he or she can pass the all kinds of tests designed by school or other institutions. Thus not only can’t motivate students, but also deprive the teachers’ freedom. Another problem in higher education is that there is a growing gap between the theories and practices. Higher education are trying to indoctrinate undergraduate with the knowledge of the theories, which makes students lose a lot of opportunities to discover and patterns by themselves in practice. Furthermore, an critical problems worth our concern is that the structure of our education is out of balance, and pay more and more emphasis on competence education. Commitment has been diminishing day by day. Is it too much to expect that, a college graduate will live with serve for others or society.
In my opinion, we should call for some immediate actions by the authorities to solve the present problems. What is needed, as many experts agree, is a series of relevant courses in liberal education, which are always lacked in most educational systems in the world. Higher education should give us the ability to compete with others in this uncertain age and let we know the commitment to all people and society.
