Applications:
Footprint braking or load resistor for Cold Plate inverters used in drive
engineering and industrial applications, test fields and train technology using
water cooling. Components such as inverters can be assembled direct on the
resistor and thus are cooled using the resistor?s water cooling.

REOHM braking resistor
This water-cooled REOHM braking resistor is very compact with high capacity. Its
special benefit is the optimised heat dissipation through the integral water cooling.
This foot print resistor enables the customer to assemble his Cold Plate inverter
or an other component direct on the resistor and to have his component cooled
using the same water-cooling of the braking resistor.
The biggest benefit of a liquid cooling is the independence of the ambient
temperature in the installation location. With high ambient temperature the
resistor may remain cooler than the ambient temperature and thus to a limited
extent may also cool down the environment. The water flow temperature for
cooling of the components in general is considerably lower than the ambient
temperature.
The cooling pipes made of aluminium are suitable for most of the standard liquids
and oils. The braking resistor is completely wired and with internal aluminium
piping.

Overload factor
Overload factor
The ratings apply for continuous duty (100 % duty cycle). In many applications in
practice resistors are not being used in continuous operation, they are charged for
a short-time only. The ratings may be increased in short-time duty in fuction of the
duty cycle by multiplication with the correspoinding overload factor from the
diagram below.
