Being printed on paper, books are friendly to eyes. People are attracted to computer game mainly because it’s graphic and audio effects. Without advertise, it would be much harder for customers to learn about products or services. Indeed, world economy would be much less developed. There are two main trap used in the advertise industry to persuade and convince people, one is to appeal to our desire for pleasure and the other is to take advantage of our fear. Apart from that, most adverts intentionally mislead the customers by implying dire consequences if their products are not used. The reader are being sold journalists’ preferences and views, rather than objective information. It is reported that 40% of teenagers in Japan could not write many commonly used Japanese because most homework is typewritten. The sense of community is lost for many people because they rarely see or interact with each other. At present, most technology development only aim to address our physical needs. In fact our mental life need more attention. Mankind is unlikely to lead a more leisurely life in the foreseeable future because science and technology won’t help to ease our burden too much. It seems that technology makes our lives more efficient but not necessarily more leisurely. Science and technology is advancing at breathtaking speed. The mass media has become the sole source of information for most people. No wonder we lack independent thinking. Press freedom allows journalists to report nearly everything. But nothing receives more press coverage than the famous: movie stars, top athletes, models and so on. The famous are often victims of sensationalism and tabloid journalism. They are being used to attract more audience and to boost the sales. With more years after the usual span of life, the elderly can embark on whatever they want. They have a lifetime of skills and experience behind them and can use them to their advantage. Environmental problems The problem is compounded by the poor efforts we made at recycling. Besides, rapid population growth in urban areas is also responsible for the increase of garbage. Not regarding the city as their home, they often doing some damage to environment by throwing rubbish everywhere. People should be educated to increase their environmental awareness. Everything comes at a price. It would also be preferable if throw-away plates are used in restaurants with inferior sanitary conditions. Animals I would regard animals as my fellow creatures and treat them on an equal basis. Just as we have our human rights, animals has their animals’ rights. However, there is one role that only be played by plants and animals: being our food. Some might argue the life in zoo is a secured and leisurely one: they are well protected and given enough to eat. Animals long for their natural way of life even if that means death. If you really want to see wild animals, we should go to them instead of put them in the cage. Crime Education is the first thing we can do to reduce the crime. People need to be taught what commits a crime and what punishment would follow. Effective law enforcement can make great difference. Law enforcement is as essential as law itself. If criminals can get away from punishment just because their connections or their family, people will lose their faith. Some TV program even inadvertently teach people how to commit a crime, because every step of the crime is described in detail. Also, stricter censorship should be enforced to cut out the unhealthy content from the mass media. By the age of 20, many young people have watched thousands of killings and shootings on TV or in films. It is a universal practice that the parents take the blow when their underage children commit crimes. Children below a certain age often rely on their parents to distinguish between the right and wrong. Greed for money often robs people of their humanity.
