Aims and Requirements:
You'll write 3 assignments individually and complete a term paper together with 2-3 students. You need to discuss with your partners, read each others’ drafts, and proofread for each other. In this process, you need to explore the resources available to support you in developing your ideas. Best of all, you'll come away with a new understandings of what it is and how to write a term paper.
Course Outline: This course is organized into 8 modules. Please refer to the documents and reference materials I post in the web-school.
Preparation:
● Visit the EEE website, and activate your interest in learning English.
(See project members, participating teachers)
● Find 2 or 3 partners and decide on what to write about (the research topic has to be a real world problem or issues you are really concerned about)
Course Structure: This course assumes that you will be working together with your partners as you progress through the course. Throughout the course I will provide extension activities and refer you to different websites, articles, and books on the topics. To maximize your participation in this class, you should have experience in surfing the Internet, have access to software or learning program I recommend. Access to email will ensure your interactive participation in the course.
Course Goals:
● Explore best-practice research and instruction through readings and viewing exemplary projects.
● Create projects that are related to your study interest.
● Provide opportunities for collaboration with peers.
Note: The project will be developed within a team of 2-3 students, using a process that involves crafting a challenge or problem, sorting and analyzing information, and forming a final product or presentation that solves a real-world problem.
Course Syllabus
This course is designed to be 8 weeks in duration. Course materials are available as handouts. It is a book published by Tsinghua University Press. You are required to complete and submit all required coursework in Tsinghua Netschool ().

Main tasks
Week 1 Introductions
l Gain knowledge of the course and expectations.
l Get familiar with web school and read project papers available.
l Reflect upon your skills and experiences with writing and attitudes toward writing term papers in English.
Weeks 2-3 Teamwork
l Find partners and initiate a research topic.
l Increase awareness of writing conventions for term papers
l Read extensively and listen to papers in the Economist.
Weeks 4-5
Project Ideas
l Gain knowledge about writing abstracts (e.g. EAME)
l Read research papers
Weeks 6-7 First Draft
l Consider standards that support your curricular focus.
l Analyze web resources for use in your project.
l Complete a final project as a team
Weeks 8
Oral presentation
l Present your project to the class (with a ppt file)
l Finalize the paper in week 9-10 and present it to the webschool
