T: I am glad to see you all. First of all , let me introduce myself. My
name is Amanda. ( Write on the blackboard.) I hope we’ll study

do when you meet your friends. ( Ss respond ) what you will
T: Yeah, say “Hi” or “Hello”…You greet each other.

leaders of different countries meet each other , what would they
usually do? Have you noticed that? (Ss respond) Right! Shake hands!
( Gesture ) This is a polite behavior. We can also say they have
( good manners ).Good manners, that’s our topic in Unit6.( Write on
the blackboard )
Step 2 . Have a discussion and make a list.
T: I believe all of you have good manners. But in the daily life, some
have…right, bad manners. ( Write on the blackboard ) Well, now
please think of your own behaviors or those of the people around
you. Then discuss with your partner and make a list of some good
manners and bad manners.
(Ss discuss and list )
T: OK, please stop discussing. Anyone who would like to share with us
what they have listed? ( Ss show )
T: Thank you! Those really exist. It seems you watch carefully in your
,
daily life. …Ok, please turn to Page 42, here are some good manners
for you to keep in mind. Please remember these tips. Especially don’t
laugh at, stare at or make jokes about disabled people .Because your
stare will make them feel uneasy ,while your jokes will hurt them .

Page 36.

about? ( Ss respond ) Right, they are about making apologies. Do
you know“apology”? Well, it’s the noun form of apologise ( BE )or
apologize ( AE ). When we do something wrong or trouble others,
we should make apologies to others for our behavior. ( Write on the
blackboard ) But how to? … Yeah, we can say “Excuse me”…

T: Now, imagine we are at a party .We are all in a good mood, so we politely talk to each other and make excuses when troubling others. Now, some troubles really happen. Please look at the three situations on Page 37. Do you understand what happens in all the situations? Situation one, you know what “introduce” mean? ( Ss respond ) Right, it means making persons known by name to one another .esp. in the usual formal way, just as I did just now.
T: Before your practice, I would like you to tell me more about ways of making apologies and possible answers. ( Ss respond )
Yeah. Forgive me. I am very sorry. …Ok, look at Page 37, there are some useful expressions at the bottom, please note that they are arranged in descending order according to the formality, that is ,“Forgive me” is more formal than “Oops, sorry about that” Understand?
T: Now, please make up a dialogue with your partner. Try your best to solve each problem smoothly and in a polite way. And try to use the
,
proper ways of making apologies. I will give you 5 minutes. Clear? Go!
( Ss practise )
T: Are you ready? Who wants to show us the dialogue? ( Ss act out )
( Situation 1, 2, 3.)
T: Wonderful!… It seems that you all have good manners and are clear in
dealing with different situations.

Workbook Page 116
Step 1. Lead in : tell Ss the topic.
Step 2. Ss work in groups of four and discuss the topic Step 3. Group leaders report to the whole class.

good manners are extremely important. But different people may have
different opinions about what are good manners. For example, a man
opens the door for a woman. Is this a good manner or not? What are
your opinions? Now turn to Page 116,read the first situation and
discuss it. First, four students form a group, each group should have
a leader. It’s the leader’s job to record the members’ opinions and come
to the blackboard to report after the discussion. Are you ready? Go!
( Ss discuss )… Ok, who will be the first one to report?… ( Ss report )
T: Thanks …
