The Glass Castle This book was written by Jeanette Walls ,a famous journalist from America ,who firstly told the world her experience of her household’s background ,which was rarely seen and very different.The novel was said that there were four children i n Jeanette’s family .Her father ’s socialism and independence brought the whole family both into misfortune and salvage .At first ,they lived in a way liking nomadic tribes and wandered from place to place around the deserts of west .Sometime they even slept on the mountains..Her father ,a man of great charming and of talent,would engaged the imagination of his children and teach them physics and geography,especially teach them how to embrace the life when he did not drink at all .His great plan was to build a glass castle ,a dreamlike home.But it had not been realized .Her mother was lost herself into drawing and writing ,who could not bear to the simple life of supporting the whole family . They enjoyed the vagrant life with pure, happy, risky and hopeful in small towns in Arizona, California and Nevada. Might the enthusiasm in vagrant life had been weakened, they settled down in a mineral town in West Virginia. The house they lived in was without electricity and other equipment, which was dangerous. The children lived in lack of food and being laughed at by other children .But they struggled for this, they protected their parents and family. However, their father was b on the drink and mother was on drawing. The children took care of each other and stood the harm their parents brought to .The tried their best to saved money and have fled the family to New York. Their parents soon came to New York, too. But they still lived in vagrant life. But in fact, their mother has a value of one million dollars of a land, but she insisted wandering was a kind of adventure. In the end the children had the life they needed. As far as I am concerned, I learn a variety of beautiful truth of this world’s treasure. I think that the truth and the meaning of life Jeanette had learnt brought us many reflection and introspection. And it also prompted us to care for our own lives and the right side of the family, lover. We can more fully recognize that love is a topic like this. Walls filled with adventure and an interesting life experiences, let us also tickled pink. I believe that the book can bring joy to readers as well. Jeanette Walls used accurate and elegant words to describe her sad childhood turbulent past. This book is interesting and sad, full of both warmth and cookies. She suffered the poverty and fires, but in the end she led her own lives which she wanted to. “Darkness is a journey, light is the place to go. That has never and will never come is the true meaning of the kingdom of heaven.” This sentence is on the first page of the book, I was deep in thought. I think it not only tells us what the emotion the writer expressed, but also tells us how to face the harm life. On the whole, I think everyone who read this book will be moved. I have been impacted by this book and learned the variety of beautiful truth treasure.
