Four of the five were once broadcasters in various media institutions like Chinese Radio International, Radio Guangdong and Voice of Strait. One was once won the National Golden Microphone Awards. Broadcasting and Hosting Department pays much attention to bilingually broadcasting training. It has attracted a large number of students nationwide applying for. But only 30 students will be admitted every year. Training objectives and teaching requirements This major cultivate news anchors, show hosts and the journalists on camera who possess multi-disciplinary knowledge abilities such as Journalism and Communication, Chinese and English language and literature, broadcasting and host; who have brilliant English advantages and solid professional levels; who can use mandarin, English and Cantonese to broadcast in TV stations and broadcasting stations of Guangdong province or domestic ones in every levels or Chinese media on overseas; or senior oral talents as spokesmen at various types of agencies ,public relations departments and other publicity departments. The students mainly study Chinese Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Radio and Television Journalism and Communication, China's broadcasting have learned to accept the systematic training on expression of both Chinese and English, master oral communication skills on radio and television broadcasting. Graduates should acquire the following knowledge and skills: 1.Grasp the basic knowledge and theory of Chinese Language and Literature, Radio and Television Journalism and Communication and China's broadcasting. 2.Process the knowledge of related disciplines, such as philosophy, politics, economics, sociology, psychology, aesthetics, law and art. 3.Process the basic capability of broadcasting and host. 4.Know about and grasp the news propaganda of our party and state and the principles and policies of literary and artistic work. 5.Process the primary ability of radio and television interviewing and writing and the editing and production of radio program. 6.Process the skills to search documents and data and abilities to research and practical job. 7.Master good English communication skills and the ability of cross culture communication. 2、The basic education system and the Period of Study The basic education system: 4 years, the period of study: 3-6 years. 3. Study hours and credits: The total study hours are 2664, the total credits are 159. It includes 105 credits on required courses, accounting for 66.04%; 54 credits on elective courses, accounting for 33.96% and 48 credits on practice and teaching, accounting for 30.19%. The course on humanistic classics is ―Humanistic Classics Reading‖, which is divided into 1 th-4semester to master, arranged by the Office of Academic Affairs and given by the School of Chinese. 1. The course embodies the requirement of ―College Chinese‖ is included in ―Culture and Literature‖ of Public basic course. 3.The credits on innovation ability can offset the elective courses’ credits of the same type, maximum of 8 credits. 4、Key course Chinese Language, Journalism& Communication, Art study 5、Core Courses Broadcast sound science, Mandarin voice, Introduction to broadcasting, audio creative basics, language expression, news broadcasts, Intro to program hosts, literary and art works studio, radio broadcasting and hosts, television broadcasting and host, Journalism Studies, news-gathering and writing, English broadcasting basis, Oral improvisation, English broadcasting and host. 6.Social practice and scientific research 1. Military training and military theory course, organized and implemented by the university, 2 credits. 2. Students should not only participate in labor and social practices which organized by the university, but also to the major interns, arranged in the third year’s summer vacation and the first semester of the forth year’s . In other words, students need to offer intern achievement related to journalism with couching from tutors. In addition students will learn some practical courses. And students would be encouraged to practice on the relevant media institutions on holidays and familiar with their operation. Students are also welcomed to publish some articles in the media. 3. Fourth-grade students are required to write thesis, 6 credits. 4. Carry out research activities by using forms such as researches, lectures, reports and others, students who have published news reports, comments and investigation reports (with official registration numbers or ISBN) could get the innovation credits. 7、Degree-granting Students would be conferred degree of Bachelor of Arts after passing examinations, according to "The People's Republic of China Degree Regulations". Apart from labor and social practices organized by the university, students should also rdstparticipate in professional practices during the summer vacation of the 3 year and the 1 thsemester of the 4 year. With their tutors’ guidance, students are required to offer the relevant practical outcomes such as news works published. In the last semester of college, the students will be assigned their graduation practices. In addition, students are going to take part in some curriculum with strong practice. It’s encouraged for students to practice in the relevant media institutions on vacations, so that they could get familiar with the real operation of the media. Students are also welcomed to publish some news works in the media. th5. The graduation thesis should be finished in the 8 semester. 6. Who carried out research reports, lectures, papers and other forms of scientific research, and published works of news, news, comment, or survey report (official number or ISBN) can have inovative credits. Innovative credits can be replaced of in the same type in elective courses, the maximum 8 credits. It can make more clear to students what China role in the world and contribute to peaceful development. It took the phenomenon of Journalism and Communication which existed in societies. The keystones are the interrelationship of news media and human society. It would probe the origin of news media, special rules in the period of developing and the basic rules on operation. Through study, learners would cognitive communication activities, esp. the overall operation of news media and effects. The contents are mainly involved: interpreting news lead; TV news structure; interpreting hard news and soft news; interpreting breaking news; editing and selecting news; news objectivity and the standpoint.
