Many years ago there lived an Emperor who was so exceedingly(非常) fond of fine new clothes that he spent vast sums of money on dress. To him clothes meant more than anything else in the world. He took no interest in his army, nor did he care to go to the theatre, or to drive about in his state coach, unless it was to display his new clothes. He had different robes(礼服) for every single hour of the day .Act1 (国王和王后上台,用夸张的表情炫耀他们的漂亮衣服 “王后拿着镜子, Queen:honey ,honey, tell me ,who is the nicest women in the world , King :of course ,you,my deer . 王后深情地看了国王一眼,开始泰坦尼克式舞蹈 泰坦尼克号背景音乐”) Act2 And,one day ,there come 2 people---who said they were the best designer in the world。 TAILOR1:I have never seen such magic clothes before!! "What a splendid idea," thought the Emperor. "What useful clothes to have. If I had such a suit of clothes I could know at once which of my people is stupid or unfit for his post."KING:I can’t wait to see it !Do it for me!Now! eamSo the tailors begain to take the emperor’s measure. TAILOR1: Inseam(内接缝): 22. TAILOR2:Inseam:22.(边说边记) King: Oh, wait, wait. (he takes an enormous breath) TAILOR1:Waist腰围):54。 TAILOR2:Waist:54。(边说边记)Now the Emperor was eager to know how much of the cloth was finished, and would have loved to see for himself. He was, however, somewhat(有点) uneasy. "Suppose," he thought secretly, "suppose I am unable to see the cloth. That would mean I am either stupid or unfit for my post. That cannot be," he thought, but all the same he decided to send for his faithful old minister(大臣) to go and see. "He will best be able to see how the cloth looks. Act3 So the faithful old minister went into the hall where the two tailors sat beside the empty looms(织布机) pretending to work with all their might. (两个裁缝边吃边聊天。这时进来一位大臣,他们匆忙把东西收拾起来,假装一副织布的样子) TAILOR1:Welcome,guys ~Let us show you how the dress goes。 The Emperor's minister opened his eyes wide. "Upon my life!" he thought. "I see nothing at all, nothing." But he did not say so. TAILOR2: Are not the colors exquisite(精致的), and see how intricate (错综复杂的)are the patterns, The poor old minister stared and stared.
